Cause and Effect Analysis

I read "Why the M Word Matters To Me" by Andrew Sullivan
In this essay it discusses the importance of marriage and being gay. First, he explains what his childhood and teenage years were like and how he struggled with his sexuality, how he didn't get the chance to learn how to be in a relationship during his teenage years like most of his peers did.
The cause of this was being raised in a conservative, christian home with a focus on marriage and thus had the belief that marriage wasn't possible for him.
The effect was isolation throughout his teenage years and struggling with relationships through his twenties and thirties.
He explains the cause and the effect and then states why he thinks things should be different.
